FOOD TO GLOW

Sunday, June 19, 2016

I have become more mindful with what I put inside my body. This does mean my grocery runs have turned from 15 minutes to an hour and half, but I like to make sure I am eating foods that make me feel good on the inside and look good from the outside. Changing my diet to a healthier one has brought such great benefits to my skin and has given me this natural glow that I have always wanted. According to an article from Byrdie, choosing the right foods will give you youthful, glowing skin. There is a long list of foods that can give you glowing skin, but I have listed my favorites below.

Blueberries
are high in anti-oxidants and protect our skin from free radicals that damage our collagen and cause wrinkles. Blueberries also help to eliminate toxins from the body and are great food option for weight loss if needed.

Lemons
This citrus fruit helps brighten your skin and gets rid of those blemishes. They also remove dead skin cells giving you a younger, nourished looking complexion. I like to start my morning off with lemon infused in warm water.

Avocados
Avocados are super beneficial for hair, skin, and nails. They are hydrating foods that are rich in Vitamin E. Vitamin E helps the skin become firmer and fights against free radical damage.

Spinach
This vegetable is filled with Vitamin K. Vitamin K helps diminish dark circles.  and reduces skin inflammation. Adding more spinach to your diet can help give you clear skin. Spinach also reduces skin inflammation and increases healthy growth of skin cells.

Carrots
Carrots contains Vitamin A, which is known to restore damaged skin. Eating carrots especially during the hot summer days will help protect your skin from creating wrinkles and prevent early aging (This is key to me especially since my skin easily creates wrinkles under my eyes.)

Dark Chocolate
You can bet that my food pantry is filled with dark chocolate. For those who know me, they know that I live for chocolate. I was so surprised, but so excited to discover that dark chocolate keeps your skin healthy and GLOWY. Eating dark chocolate can help shield your skin from UV rays preventing skin cancer and skin damage. It also keeps your skin well nourished and keeps it soft. This one is my favorite.

SUNNIER DAYS ARE COMING

Monday, May 30, 2016

It is the last few days of school and almost everyone I know already has plans of what they are going to do whether it be taking summer courses to graduate on time, backpacking across Asia, or working back home to make some money for the upcoming year. Coming home this summer is going to be a whole lot different than previous summers. My best friend who I am use to spending most of my summer days with will be staying at her University the entire summer. My other friends who live back home have jobs and a set schedule making it difficult for me to spend as much time with them as I would like to. I am very fortunate and excited to intern for a fashion company this summer along with my online internship, but I do want to make sure that on top of working hard I have time for myself and with my loved ones. I stumbled upon a quote the other day that said "Do everything with so much love in your heart that you would never want to do it any other way".  I want to wake up each morning excited for what the day has in store for me whether it be going on a spontaneous road trip with my cousin or updating the social media sites for my internship. I want to stay outside as much as possible enjoying the sun, time with my loved ones, and time with myself. To achieve my summer goal, I have made a bucket list that I hope will keep me motivated to enjoy the sunnier Southern California days.

LUCY GOES TO ARIZONA

Monday, March 28, 2016

Hello guys! I know it's been a month since I've made a post, but midterms and finals took over my life for a while so I did not have enough time/ ran out of creativity. However, I was able to have a fun-filled and relaxing spring break back in LA and filmed a bit of my trip when I went to Arizona. I had the privilege of being able to go to the Grand Canyon, Phoenix, and Sedona during the first part of my spring break. This is my first time filming/editing in a really, really long time so I am not that great, but I am slowly getting better. Hope you enjoy the video!

xoxo,

Lucy

LUCY GOES TO GERMANY

Tuesday, December 8, 2015

Hello lovelies! This weekend I spent my final trip of the year in Cologne, Germany. I arrived mid-day Thursday and checked into my hostel. Normally when I travel I stay at Airbnb's or hotels, but since I am running out money pretty fast-staying at a hostel was ideal. To my surprise the hostel was not scary at all and reminded me of a college dorm. I was fortunate enough to stay with two of my friends in the same room so it was not as awkward being in a room with strangers. Our first night we went to a restaurant and bar called Heller's and had authentic German food with Cologne's famous beer: Kolsch. In Cologne, you are given a beer with a coaster. When you're done with your beer, you have to put the coaster on top or else the waiter assumes you want another beer even if you're not halfway done with your current drink. Speaking of Kolsch, it is cheaper than water in Germany.

BRUNCH AT LE PAIN QUOTIDIEN

Saturday, November 21, 2015

I am trying be wiser with my money meaning less eating out at hip and healthy restaurants and more of eating the remainder of food in my kitchen pantry (which by the way, is only filled with rolled oats, banana, chia seeds, green tea, and organic peanut butter). Having banana oatmeal for breakfast everyday can be quite tiring, which is why I decided to spend a little bit of money on myself to eat different food. Even before temporarily moving here, I have been eyeing this restaurant in Los Angeles. Now that I see it in every street corner, I decided to try the popular London food chain Le Pain Quotidien.
